🛕 The Legend of Jwalpa Devi

According to local legends, Jwalpa Devi is a manifestation of Goddess Durga, worshipped as the Goddess of Power (Shakti). It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya visited this temple and meditated here, making it a powerful spiritual site.

🕉️ The name “Jwalpa” comes from “Jwala,” meaning flame — symbolizing the eternal flame of the goddess’s energy that protects devotees from negativity.

The temple sees a huge influx of devotees during Navratri, when it becomes a center of celebration and devotion. Special pujas, bhajans, and rituals are performed with great enthusiasm.

Two Navratris are celebrated grandly:

  • Chaitra Navratri (March–April)
  • Sharad Navratri (September–October)
