๐ Introduction
Nestled in the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh, Chintpurni Temple is one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India. Dedicated to Mata Chintpurni, also known as Chhinnamastika Devi, this sacred site draws thousands of devotees every year seeking relief from worldly worriesโโChintaโ.
๐ Location & Accessibility
Chintpurni Temple is located in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, around 50 km from Kangra and 170 km from Chandigarh. It is well connected by road and accessible via Amb Andaura railway station and Gaggal Airport near Dharamshala.
๐ Spiritual Significance
According to Hindu mythology, when Lord Vishnu dismembered Sati’s body to calm Lord Shiva’s grief, Satiโs feet are believed to have fallen here. This gives the temple its status as a Shakti Peeth. The presiding deity, Mata Chintpurni, is worshipped in the form of a pindi (sacred stone).
Devotees believe that those who sincerely pray here and tie a thread on the temple premises will have their wishes fulfilled, and their “chintas” (worries) removed.
๐ Festivals & Fairs
The temple comes alive during Navratri, celebrated twice a year, and during the Chintpurni Mela in July-August. These occasions are marked by grand rituals, devotional music, and a sea of devotees from across India.
