🙏 Mythological Significance
The temple is named after King Daksha Prajapati, the father of Goddess Sati and father-in-law of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, King Daksha organized a grand Yagna (sacrifice) but did not invite Lord Shiva. Deeply hurt, Sati self-immolated in the fire of the Yagna. Enraged by her death, Lord Shiva created Virabhadra, who destroyed the Yagna and beheaded Daksha. Later, Lord Shiva forgave him and restored his life with a goat’s head. This event is believed to have occurred at the very site of the temple.
